Bulldogs Beat Pirates, Area Softball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony edged out to a 3-2 opening inning lead on Cumberland in girls softball competition Monday and went on for a 6-4 victory.
The Bulldogs tacked on single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings. The Pirates came back with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Hakman led the way for St. Anthony with three singles while Kabbes had a triple and an RBI and A. Day a double and an RBI.
Cumberland was led by S. Oakley with a single, home run and two RBI and Green with two singles. The Pirates fall to 1-4 on the season.

Olney struck first, scoring a run in the third inning. Teutopolis tied the score at 1-1 in the fifth. But the Tigers came back in the bottom of the seventh to knock in the winning run, 2-1.
Olney had seven hits in the contest led by Doll with three singles, Colclasure with a single, double and an RBI and Ochs with a double.
T-town had five hits, all singles by R. Drees, M. Hemmen, J. Drees, L. Hemmen and Niebrugge.

Shelbyville stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and went on for a 14-4 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in five innings Monday.
The Rams had 15 hits in the game and was aided by four CHBC errors.
CHBC had five hits led by Sarah Kirchhofer with two singles. The Bobcats drop to 1-3 on the season.

Calla Roney threw seven innings of no hit softball as Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg beat Cerro Gordo 7-0 Monday.
Roney struck out 16 in the victory.
Meanwhile, teammates banged out 10 hits in the contest led by Mackenzi Tabbert with a double, home run and three RBI. Megan Schlechte and Madison Everett had a single and triple each.

Neoga traveled to Paris and fell to the homestanding Tigers 5-1.
The Tigers led 2-0 after the first inning then had single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings. Neoga's lone run came in the sixth.
Elizabeth Titus had a double for Neoga while Taylor Lee had a single. The Indians drop to 3-2 on the season.
Neoga won the junior varsity game 3-1.
