Effingham claimed the Class AA Teutopolis Girls Softball Regional championship.
TEUTOPOLIS -- Effingham Junior High School blanked Jasper County 7-0 to win the Class AA Teutopolis Girls Softball Regional Tuesday evening.
The Mustangs edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then tacked on two in the third, three in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Effingham had eight hits led by Dasenbrock with a single, double and an RBI, Armstrong with a double and two RBI, Davis with a double and an RBI and Wittenberg with three singles and an RBI.
Davis picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with three walks and 10 strikeouts.
The Mustangs advance to the Paris Sectional Saturday at 11 a.m. and will take on Mattoon, a 5-0 winner over Charleston in the Mount Zion Regional.

South Central trounced Rome in regular season play at Webster Park Tuesday.
The Cougars edged out to a two run lead then broke the game open with nine runs in the second and six in the third.
South Central had 13 hits in the game led by Laney Webster with three singles, a triple and four RBI, Jordan Geiler with a single, double and an RBI, Sydnee Garret with an inside-the-park home run and three RBI, Kayli Swift with a single, triple and an RBI and Brooklyn Garrett with a single, triple and an RBI.
South Central is now 13-2 on the season.
