Junior High Softball -- August 31

This game couldn't have been much closer. Mattoon Junior High School ended up edging Effingham 9-8 to claim a softball victory Wednesday.

The score was tied at 2-2 in the first inning before the Mustangs took an 8-2 lead in the second. Mattoon fought back to pull within 8-6 in the fifth then tallied three runs to move ahead in the sixth and hold on for the win.

Both teams had 12 hits. Effingham was led by Dasenbrock with a two singles, a triple and an RBI, Armstrong with a single and double nad Wittenberg with two singles.
