Junior Softball Results -- August 29

CHARLESTON -- Effingham traveled to Charleston for a junior high girls softball game Monday and fell 6-3.

Charleston held a 2-0 lead after three innings and pushed that to 4-0 after five. The Mustangs tallied three in the sixth to pull within 4-3 but Charleston scored two more in the bottom of frame for the winning margin.

Effingham was led by Stone with two doubles and an RBI, Wittenberg with two singles and Davis with a double and an RBI.

Martinsville Junior High School came calling and claimed a 5-1 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.

Martinsville took a 1-0 first inning lead then had a three-run second. CHBC had four hits, all singles by Sydney Dunaway, Carsen Burks, Zaryah Cyr and Madison Cherry.

South Central took a 2-0 first inning lead, tacked on four more in the second, two in the fourth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh to beat Cisne 12-7.

Jordan Geiler had two singles and three RBI while Sydnee Garrett added a double, triple and three RBI, Sierra Arnold a single, triple and an RBI and Meagan Smith a double and an RBI.

South Central improves to 8-2.
