Effingham tallied single runs in the second, third and sixth innings and two in the fifth for a 5-1 victory over Shelbyville in girls softball action Tuesday.

The Mustangs had nine hits led by Rothrock with a single, double and an RBI, Stone with a single, triple and an RBI, Dasenbrock with two singles and an RBI and Davis with two singles.

Wittenberg picked up the pitching win on an eight-hitter with one walk and 14 strikeouts.

At Mulberry Grove

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Madison Cherry pitched a no-hitter in a 6-0 win over Mulberry Grove Tuesday.

Cherry finished out with 15 strikeouts in the game. This is the first no-hitter for the junior softball program at CHBC.

CHBC had six hits led by Carsen Burks and Cherry with two singles and an RBI each.

The winners now sport a 6-4 record.

Altamont bounced St. Elmo/Brownstown 17-0 in three innings.  Altamont tallied 11 in the first and six in the second.

Goeckner pitched a no-hitter. Altamont had five hits led by Runge with a single, triple and three RBI. Altamont improves to 2-8 on the season and 2-0 in National Trail Conference play.

South Central stepped out to a 6-0 first inning lead and tallied a 16-4 win over Sandoval in five innings via the 10-run rule.

South Central had 12 hits led by Larry Webster with three singles and two RBI, Brooklyn Garrett with two singles and an RBI, Jaylyn Michel with two singles and four RBI and Sierra Arnold with a triple and an RBI.

South Central improves to 4-1 on the season.

At Kinmundy
