Junior High Softball Results -- Aug. 11

Effingham Junior High School took a 2-0 first inning lead and went on to down Teutopolis 10-2 in girls softball action Thursday.

The Mustangs banged out 14 hits led by Wittenberg with four singles and two RBI. Hardiek, Armstrong and Stone had two singles each. Hardiek and Armstrong had an RBI each.

Davis pitched the victory throwing a five-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts.

Teutopolis was led by Probst with two singles and an RBI.

Mattoon edged ahead of Effingham St. Anthony and finished with a 10-2 win Thursday evening.

Mattoon led 1-0 after the first then had a six-run third, a two-run fourth and scored a run in the sixth.

Bratton had a single, double and an RBI while Allee had two singles and two RBI for the winners.

St. Anthony was led by Ritz with a triple, Guy with a double and two RBI and Karolewicz with a double.

Okaw Valley had a 14-run fifth inning and outlasted Altamont 21-11 in action Thursday.

The score was tied at 4-4 after two. Okaw Valley pushed ahead with three runs in the third. Altamont came back with a run in the third and went ahead 11-7 in the fourth. But Okaw Valley had the 14-run fifth for the win.

Altamont outhit Okaw Valley 10-7. Goeckner had two singles, a triple and three RBI while Boedecker had a single, double and two RBI and Pemberton a single, double and two RBI. Altamont dropped to 0-2.
