Fonner Claims Girls Prep League Tourney Crown

Fonner Oral Surgery picked up the championship of the Girls Prep Softball League Tournament Monday at Evergreen Hollow Park.

In the opening contest, Fonner downed Joe's Pizza 16-3. Fonner led 6-2 after three innings then had a 10-run fourth.

Chloe Koester had three singles and Grace Karolewicz had two singles and a double. Karolewicz pitched a five-hitter.

In the second game, Evergreen Mini Golf bounced Crossroads Bank 19-9. Evergreen held a 6-2 first inning lead but trailed 7-6 in the top of the second. Evergreen then tallied 11 runs in the bottom of the inning.

Riley Cunningham threw a four-hitter. She aided her own cause with two triples and two RBI. Abbey Cunningham had a double, triple and three RBI while Breana Deain had a double and three RBI.

Megan Bierman led Crossroads with two singles and an RBI.

Fonner then stepped out to a 13-1 opening inning lead and never looked back in a 21-13 victory over Evergreen Mini Golf for the championship.

Fonner had only four hits in the game led by Karolewicz with a double and she pitched a six-hitter.

A. Cunningham led Evergreen with a single and double while Izzy Hakman had a double.
