Raymond Lincolnwood scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and made those runs stand up as the Lancers defeated the St. Anthony Bulldogs, 2-0.
The game at the Altamont Class 1A softball sectional was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com
The loss ends the Bulldogs' season at 19-16. Raymond Lincolnwood is now 16-13 and will play Casey-Westfield Saturday at 11am for the sectional championship. Casey-Westfied beat Okaw Valley 11-0 in five innings in Tuesday's opener.
Rachael Gorman's two-out two-run single to right brought home Karley Bruntjen and Abby Brockmeyer with the only two runs of the game.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs amassed just three hits against Jenna Sale, but drew six walks. They just couldn't cash in, though, including one inning where they had runners on second and third and nobody out.
Jenna Woltman gave up the two runs in the first inning, but gave up just four hits and only walked two while fanning nine. Sale had seven strikeouts.
At the plate for St. Anthony: Jenna Woltman--walk; Katie Kabbes--single and walk; Hunter Niebrugge--walk; Allie Day--two walks; Laura Gurtner--single; Liz Day--single and walk
