St. Anthony Wins NTC Softball Tourney Crown

Effingham St. Anthony High School captured the championship of the National Trail Conference Girls Softball Tournament Friday.
The Bulldogs claimed a 7-5 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg. WSS started off with a 3-0 first inning lead and led until St. Anthony came back with two runs in the fourth and tied in the fifth. The Bulldogs then had a four-run sixth inning. WSS came back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.
St. Anthony banged out 13 hits in the contest led by Hunter Niebrugge with a single, home run and two RBI while Jenna Woltman had three singles and an RBI and Maddie Schuette a double and an RBI. Alli Day had three singles and two RBI and Sydney Gibson with two singles.
Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Tabbert with a single, two doubles and an RBI, B. Schlechte with two singles and two RBI and Cole with a double.
Woltman picked up the pitching win on a seven-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

Altamont 7, South Central 6
Altamont claimed the third place contest with a 7-6 win over South Central.
Both teams went scoreless through the first three innings before both tallied three runs in the fourth. Altamont then moved ahead with four runs in the fifth and held on for the victory.
The Indians had 12 hits in the contest led by Burns with three singles, Winters with a triple, Mette with a double and an RBI and Biggs with a double, Goeckner with two singles and an RBI, Mayhaus with a double and Stone with a single, double and three RBI.
South Central was led by Serina Lee with two singles, Abby King with a triple and Katelyn Wilson with a double.

Consolation Championship
Neoga outlasted St. Elmo/Brownstown in a 21-10 contest for the consy title. No other information was provided on the game.
At Effingham
Effingham edged out to a 1-0 lead but Flora came back with a two-run third. EHS knotted the score in the fourth then had a five-run sixth to put the game away 7-2.
Aly Armstrong pushed her pitching mark to 12-3, throwing a four-hitter with one walk and nine strikeouts.
Hope Collier, Skyler Schafer and Chloe Funneman had two singles each. Collier added an RBI. Alissa Kersey had a single and drove in two runs.
The Hearts are now 17-4 on the season.
At Effingham

At Teutopolis
Edwardsville held a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth but Teutopolis came back with two in the bottom of the frame to pull out a 3-2 win Saturday.
The Wooden Shoes had only six hits, but four of those were doubles. Anni Borries had a double and an RBI while Kadi Borries had a single and double. Allison Apke had a double and an RBI and Raegan Drees a double.
K. Borries pitched a 10-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts.
In the second game, Edwardsville stepped out to an early 8-1 lead then tallied a final run in the sixth. T-town mounted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs, only to fall short in a 9-8 loss.
Edwardsville had 10 hits in the contest led by Anderson with two singles, a double and an RBI. T-town had nine hits led by A. Borries with a double, K. Borries with a triple and an RBI, Repking with two singles, a double and three RBI and Drees with a double and two RBI.
The Wooden Shoes are now 25-2 on the season and will play Effingham in a doubleheader Tuesday.

At Mulberry Grove
Mulberry Grove was crowned the winner of the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament Saturday.
St. Elmo/Brownstown took a forfeit win over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick in the opening game. Mulberry Grove then beat St. Elmo/Brownstown 12-2 in the second game. Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran downed Ramsey 14-6.
Mulberry Grove then edged Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran 8-7 for the championship.
Third place went to St. Elmo/Brownstown over Ramsey 8-5. SEB banged out 12 hits in the contest led by Brown with a single, triple and three RBI and Philpot and Bone with two singles each. Bone added an RBI.
