Altamont Splits Softball Victories

Altamont High School split softball victories Saturday. The Indians won the opener 12-1 over Neoga.

The Indians edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead then had a two-run second and a four-run fourth. Altamont had 10 hits in the contest led by Shelbi Stone with two singles. Tinley Mette had a single and two RBI.

Neoga had two hits, singles by Taylor and Vaughn.

Jade Shryock pitched the two-hitter with six strikeouts.

In the second game, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed a 10-6 win over Altamont. The score was tied at 1-1 after the first before WSS took a 2-1 lead in the third. Altamont had a three-run fourth to move ahead but WSS tied in the fifth and took the lead in the sixth then put the contest away with a six-run seventh.

WSS had nine hits led by Tabbert with a single and triple, Megan Schlechte with two singles and Quast with a double and two RBI.

Altamont had 13 hits led by Brook Burns with three singles and an RBI, Audrey Winters two singles and Elizabeth Biggs two singles and an RBI.
