Bulldogs Lose Close One, Area Softball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony edged out to a 5-3 first inning lead and led 9-4 after three innings. Sullivan started a comeback in the fourth with a run, then tallied six runs over the next four innings to pull out an 11-9 softball victory.
The Bulldogs had 11 hits in the contest but committed four errors. Leading St. Anthony were Maddie Schuette with a single, home run and three RBI, Marci Mills with two singles and an RBI, Jenna Woltman with a double and two RBI, Hunter Niebrugge with three singles and an RBI and Sydney Gibson with two doubles.

At Altamont
Altamont High School trounced St. Elmo/Brownstown 17-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule.
Winters pitched a no-hitter with two walks and eight strikeouts.
Winters also aided her own cause offensively with two singles, a triple and two RBI. McHugh had a single, double and RBI, Goeckner a single, double and an RBI and Mayhaus with a double, home run and two RBI. Burns, Duckwitz, Biggs and Mette had two singles each. Duckwitz had an RBI while Biggs had two RBI and Mette an RBI.
Altamont improves to 3-1 in the National Trail Conference, 5-10 overall.

South Central stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead then tacked on three more in the second, one in the third and ended the game with five in the fifth for a 12-2 victory.
The Cougars banged out 10 hits in the contest. King had two singles and four RBI while Reid had two singles and two RBI and Grzegorek two singles and two RBI.
King picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts. The Cougars improve to 4-3 in the National Trail Conference, 5-6 overall.
Taylor Oldham and Sarah Kirchhofer had a single each for BCCH.

Teutopolis pushed its record to 18-1 on the season by edging Tuscola 4-3.
Tuscola held a 2-1 lead and moved that to 3-1 with a run in the fifth. T-town came back to knot the score in the sixth. The Shoes' Jessica Drees hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh with one out to score the winning run.
Drees finished with a single, double and one RBI while Apke had a double and an RBI and Hemmen two singles.
T-town is back in action Thursday at Neoga. Tuscola won the junior varsity game, 3-2.

WSS tallied four runs in the second, two in the fifth and three more in the seventh.
Megan Schlechte pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Nikki Trussell had two singles while Carson Cole had a single, double and three RBI and Katie Greuel a double and an RBI.
Tiffany Roderick led Neoga with a double and two RBI.
