Mattoon Takes Two From EHS, Area Softball Roundup

Effingham High School fell in a softball doubleheader to Mattoon Saturday.

The Green Wave claimed a 4-3 win, scoring single runs in the fourth, fifth, seventh and ending the game in eighth with a run. The Hearts tallied all three of their scores in the sixth.

Kaylee Tonn hit a home run and had two RBI for the Hearts.

In the second contest, Mattoon claimed a 7-2 win. The Green  Wave took a 3-2 first inning lead then had single runs in the fourth and fifth and two in the seventh.

Mattoon had 13 hits in the contest while Effingham had six.
