South Central High School edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead but that's the only run the Cougars scored in a 10-1 loss to Effingham St. Anthony in softball action Thursday.

The Bulldogs tallied four in the third, two in the fifth and four in the sixth behind 13 hits.

Leading St. Anthony in hitting were Hunter Niebrugge and Maddie Schuette with a single, double and an RBI each. Katie Kabbes had two singles and drove in two runs while Marci Mills had three singles. Laura Gurtner added a triple and Abbie Schmidt a double.

South Central was led by Zoe Johnston with a single and double and Abby King with three singles and an RBI. The Cougars drops to 2-3 in the National Trail Conference, 4-6 overall.

At Strasburg

Kadi Borries pitched a three-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts as Teutopolis blanked Dieterich 8-0.

Borries aided her own cause with a single, two triples and three RBI.  Apke had a single, two doubles and three RBI while Repking had two singles and an RBI.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg had three hits, all singles by Cole, Tabbert and Rentfro.

T-town improves to 15-1 on the season and returns to action today at St. Elmo/Brownstown.

The two teams tied at 4-4 in junior varsity play.

At Beecher City

Altamont scored in every inning but one in a 14-4 win over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick via the 10-run rule Thursday.

The Indians tallied single runs in the first and second. BCCH pushed ahead 3-2 in the top of the fourth but Altamont came back with a four-run bottom of the frame and had an eight-run fifth.

Altamont had 11 hits in the contest led by Duckwitz with two doubles and five RBI. Biggs, Mette and Shyrock had two singles each. Biggs added two RBI. Phillips had a single, double and two RBI.

The Indians improve to 2-0 in the National Trail Conference, 4-8 overall.

Cumberland bounced Neoga 12-2 in five innings. The Pirates banged out 17 hits in the contest.

Mya Green had two singles, a double and two RBI while Kyla Thornton had three singles and an RBI. Katie Poe had a single, double and three RBI and Sadie Oakley two singles, a double and an RBI.

Neoga was led by Neece and Estay with a single and an RBI each.
