Hearts Now 2-0 After Win Over LaSalle-Peru

The Effingham Hearts improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-2 win Friday over LaSalle-Peru.
A four-run first inning got the Lady Hearts rolling, followed by a run in the third and one in the sixth.
Aly Armstrong got the win for Effingham, allowing single runs in the third and fifth and five hits in the contest. Just one run was earned. Armstrong walked just one batter and fanned eight.
For Effingham at the plate: Carsyn Fearday--single, RBI; Hope Collier--two singles; Madison Weis--single, RBI; Jenna Wright--single; Alissa Kersey--single, RBI; Skyler Schafer--single; Jayde Lake--single; Aly Armstrong--RBI
In Saturday action, Effingham dropped a doubleheader to LaSalle-Peru.
In the opener, LaSalle-Peru tallied five runs in the first inning and went on for a 7-3 victory.
The Hearts outhit the Cavaliers 9-5. Collier had a triple and an RBI while Schafer had two singles.
In the second contest, LaSalle-Peru claimed a 10-6 victory. The Hearts trailed 6-3 after four innings and made a comeback attempt in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.
Once again EHS outhit the Cavaliers 12-10. Tonn had two singles and a double while Collier had two singles, a double and an RBI and Weis a single, two home runs and four RBI. Weis hit a two-run shot in the first and another two-run blow in the seventh.
The Hearts are now 2-2 on the season and host Marshall Thursday. LaSalle-Peru improved to 5-1.
