Altamont Competes in Softball Tourney in Tennessee

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Altamont High School competed in the Gordonsvivlle Fifth Annual High School Softball Tournament Friday and Saturday and ended up with four losses.

"Despite the four losses, it was a worthwhile weekend," said Altamont Coach Meg Burrus. "We competed with some bigger schools with some pretty good softball teams. Each game we showed improvement which is very encouraging. This weekend was a good way to get on the field and knock the rust off before we open our season back home Thursday."

The Indians fell to DeKalb County 15-4 in the opener. In the second game, Marion County was an 8-2 winner.

Altamont then fell to Livingston Academy 5-4 before dropping the final game to Smith County 8-7.
