WSS Nabs Softball Win, Clay City Beats SEB

SHELBYVILLE -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg High School picked up a 6-4 win over Shelbyville in girls softball competition Thursday.
The two teams were knotted at 2-2 after three innings. WSS then moved ahead with single runs in the third and fourth. Shelbyville tied the score at 4-4 with single runs in the sixth and seventh, sending the game into an extra inning.
WSS then came through with two runs in the bottom of the eighth. M. Schlechte picked up the pitching win, going six innings with five strikeouts.
Cole and M. Schlechte had three singles each while Roney and Greuel had a single and double each. Roney had three RBI and Greuel one.

At Marshall
Marshall blanked Cumberland in a 7-0 loss in action Thursday.
The Pirates, who drop to 1-1, were led in hitting by Kyla Thornton with two doubles. The Pirates play host to Sullivan today.
At St. Elmo
Clay City brought home 22 runs in a 22-1 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown Thursday.
The Wolves led 5-1 after two innings then tacked on two runs in the third and fourth innings and had a 13-run fifth.
Dulaney picked up the pitching win. She also had a single, double and drove in four runs.
St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Parkinson, Brown, Philpot and Lona with a single each.
