Effingham Junior High School lost a tough one Tuesday to Paris Mayo, 7-3 in softball competition.

The Mustangs allowed all seven runs in the second inning. Leading the team in hits were McKenzie Wittenberg, Emma Budde and Allie with two singles apiece, followed by Huss and Davis with a single each. On the mound, Wittenberg gave up five hits, one walk, and three strikeouts. Boone gave up four hits and had one strikeout.

The Mustangs return to play Friday at 4:30 p.m. against crosstown rival St. Anthony.

The Mustangs beat the conference champs during Monday's game against Charleston, 9-7.

Leading the Mustangs were Morgan Krouse with three singles and a double, Budde and Jaidi Davis had two singles apiece while Wittenberg, Boone and Armstrong all added a single and Martin had a double.

Wittenberg got the win on the mound with two strikeouts, five walks and 10 hits.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis took a 2-0 first inning lead, tacked on two in the third and fifth and three in the sixth for a 9-2 win over Altamont.

The Wooden Shoes had nine hits while Altamont finished with nine errors. Niemerg led T-town with two singles and an RBI while Mette had two singles. Brumleve picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Guse led Altamont with two singles.

At Ramsey

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick blasted Ramsey 18-2 in five innings via the 10-run rule Tuesday.

BCCH edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead then had a seven-run third to break the game wide open. Mykaela Dye had a single, double and drove in three runs while Kylee Wheeler had two singles and three RBI, Carsen Burks two singles and four RBI and Sydney Dunaway two singles.

Madison Cherry pitched the two-hitter.

At Flora

South Central edged Flora 5-4 to improve to 8-1 on the season.

The Falcons had six hits in the contest led by Katie Shumate with two doubles and an RBI and Angelica Rivera with two singles and an RBI. Sydnee Garrett pitched a four-hitter with two walks and six strikeouts.
