BEECHER CITY -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg picked up the championship of the Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick Junior High School Softball Tournament Saturday.

W/SS took first followed by Mulberry Grove, St. Elmo/Brownstown and Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick.

In the opening contest, Mulberry Grove claimed a 5-3 victory over BCCH. The second game went to Windsor/Stew-Stras over St. Elmo/Brownstown 6-1. Mulberry Grove then bounced SEB 22-5. W/SS went 10-2 over BCCH.

In what would prove to be the championship game in the round robin tourney, W/SS edged Mulberry Grove 5-4. The final contest went to SEB over BCCH 6-1.

Central City Tournament

South Central competed in the Central City Tournament and claimed the championship by going 3-0.

In the opening contest, South Central defeated Summerville 6-2 behind seven hits. Laney Webster had a single, double and an RBI while Angelica Rivera had a single, double and two RBI. Harlee Brown had a double and drove in three runs.

In the second contest, South Central dominated in a 13-2 win over Rome. Webster had two singles and a double. Rivera added three singles and Kayli Swift had a double and three RBI.

In the championship game, South Central beat Centralia 7-4. Centralia held a 4-0 lead until the fifth when South Central knotted the score. The Falcons then tallied three runs in the sixth for the win.

Sydnee Garrett pitched a four-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts. Webster had two singles and an RBI.

The Falcons are now 4-0 on the season.
