Premier Gold Sees Season End at Nationals

The Mattoon Premier Gold girls fastpitch team saw their season come to an end Saturday morning at the ASA/USA National Softball Tournament in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Jack City Softball Jacobs defeated PF Gold, 8-6 in eight innings. 

Gold took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Jack City scored five times in the top of the first to take a 5-1 lead. Premier bounced back, though, with three in the bottom of the third to pull within 5-4. Jack City scored in the fifth to make it 6-4, but Premier came back to tie the game 6-6 with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. The game went into extra innings, and Jack City scored two runs in the eighth to win.

As far as the Teutopolis players on the Premier squad, Allison Apke had three hits including a home run and drove five of Premier's six runs. Kadi Borries doubled and singled, and Anni Borries had a base hit.

Premier Gold finished 17th of 105 teams competing in the national tournament.
