Premier Gold Wins, Loses Wednesday, Posts Thursday Morning and Afternoon Wins

The Mattoon Premier Gold girls softball team won and lost in games at the ASA/USA 18U Class A Girls Fast Pitch Softball Tournament Wednesday, then posted a Thursday morning win.

Premier Gold won in a big way, 17-4, in their first contest, but then lost 4-3 in their other game Wednesday. 

Due to the second game loss Wednesday, the squad was back in action today at the tournament, held in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and bounced back with a convincing 15-0 win over New Orleans Nightmare.

The three Teutopolis athletes playing for Premier Gold had good games in the Thursday morning win. Allison Apke was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI, Anni Borries was one-for-three with a run scored and one RBI, and Kadi Borries was two-for-two with two runs scored and three RBI. Premier Gold scored 11 runs in the first and three more in the third to decide the game.

This morning's win moved Premier Gold into action today at 4pm, a game that Premier won 3-2 in nine innings. The squad will next see action on Friday at noon.

The tournament continues through the weekend.
