Walk Auto Body Wins Girls Junior League Softball Tournament

Walk Auto Body claimed the championship of the Girls Junior League Softball Tournament Wednesday at Evergreen Hollow Park.

In the opening game, J&R Collision Center defeated Effingham Express Care 18-7. J&R stepped out to a 5-0 first inning lead then had a nine-run second.

MacKenzie Koester had a double for the winners while Katie Kabbes had a single and two home runs. Kabbes also pitched a seven-hitter for the win.

Natalie Carie had a single and double for Effingham Express while Kaitlyn Kinkelaar had two triples.

J&R Collision then advanced to face Walk Auto Body for the championship. J&R Collision broke a 3-3 tie in the second to take a 4-3 lead. Walk Auto Body came back with two runs in the third and three in the fourth. J&R attempted a comeback bid with two in the fifth but fell short.

Makayla Allie had a double and triple for the winners. Alissa Kersey and Kaitlan Kinkelaar had a home run each. Jayde Lake added a triple and Tatyana Mowell a single and double.

Leading J&R were Kabbes with a double and home run and MacKenzie Brewer and Hope Monnet had two singles each. Brewer added an RBI.
