Altamont Downs Stew-Stras For Regional Championship

Altamont claimed the Class A St. Elmo Softball Regional title Monday by downing Stewardson-Strasburg 15-5 in five innings via the 10-run rule.

Altamont had 10 hits in the contest and scored in all five innings. Elizabeth Biggs picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter with three walks and five strikeouts.

Audrey Winters led Altamont with three singles and three RBI. Kassie Shelton and Shelby Sims had two hits each for the winners. Shelton added an RBI. E. Biggs had a double and two RBI.

Stew-Stras was led by Becca Schlechte with two singles and an RBI.

Altamont improves to 13-5 on the season and returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Class A Cumberland Sectional, taking on Casey-Westfield, a 9-6 winner over Cumberland.
