The Cumberland Pirates are on a mission to return to the 1A State Softball Tournament.

The Lady Pirates blasted Central A&M, 12-1, in a six-inning game at Bulldog Field at St. Anthony High School Saturday.

The win propels Cumberland into the Springfield Super-Sectional game against the winner of the Mt. Sterling (Brown County) Sectional, either Hardin Calhoun or Griggsville-Perry. Their game was postponed Saturday due to rain, and will now be played Monday at 4pm. That pushes Cumberland's Super-Sectional game back to Tuesday at 4:30pm at the University of Illinois in Springfield.
