Softball Regional Championship Games Now Set

Regional softball championship games are set after the final semifinal games were played Thursday.

At the 1A Stewardson-Strasburg Regional, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond ended the host school's season, downing Stew-Stras/Windsor, 6-4. Macy Hollingsworth outdueled Kendall Knop for the win. Hollingsworth allowed four runs, one earned on 10 hits while walking just one batter and striking out seven to post the win. Knop gave up six runs, all earned, on eight hits and two walks while fanning seven and allowing a home run. ALAH will play Okaw Valley for the regional championship.

At the plate for SS/W: Knop doubled and singled and scored a run, Bayleigh Tabor tripled and singled and drove in a run, Madison Quast singled, Katie Greuel singled, Taylor Rentfro singled and scored, Mercedez Austin singled and scored, Kaylee Newkirk singled and scored and drove in a run, and Kaitlin Slifer singled and drove in two runs.

The game had been rained out on Wednesday.

In other Thursday games, also all rescheduled due to rain on Wednesday, Woodlawn pounded Odin, 16-0, to reach the championship game of the 1A regional at Woodlawn, Paris downed Newton, 7-2, to move into the championship game of the 2A regional at Robinson against Teutopolis, and Fairfield blanked Lawrenceville, 2-0, to advance to the championship to advance to the 2A regional championship game against Mt. Carmel at Fairfield.

1A Hutsonville/Palestine Regional--Casey-Westfield vs. Cumberland, 11am Saturday

1A Stewardson-Strasburg Regional--Okaw Valley vs. ALAH, 4:30pm Friday

1A Woodlawn Regional--Wayne City vs. Woodlawn, 10am Saturday

2A Robinson Regional--Teutopolis vs. Paris, 11am Saturday

2A Fairfield Regional--Mt. Carmel vs. Fairfield, 11am Saturday
