Junior High Regional Finals Set

Effingham and Teutopolis will square off for the championship of the Class AA Lawrenceville Parkview Softball Regional today at 4:30 p.m. as both teams were winners in Saturday action.

Effingham defeated Jasper County 10-4  Jenna Wright led the way with a single, two triples and four RBI. Madi Crain had two singles and an RBI.

"We played great both defensively and offensively," said Effingham Coach Lindsay Francis. "Aly Armstrong pitched a great game. We had a great week of practice and played like I knew we could all season long."

Teutopolis trounced Lawrenceville 12-2 in six innings via the 10-run rule. T-town banged out 15 hits in the contest and Jessica  Drees pitched a six-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts.

J. Drees had three singles and two RBI while Lexie Kaufman had two singles, a double and two RBI. The Shoes are now 12-5 on the season.

Class A St. Elmo Regional

Altamont and Stewardson-Strasburg advanced to face each other for the championship today at 4:30 p.m.

In the opening game Saturday, Altamont handed Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick an 11-1 loss in six innings. Altamont had 11 hits and held a 3-0 first inning lead then had a single run in the fourth, four in the fifth and ended the game in the sixth with three.

Elizabeth Biggs pitched a four-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Kassie Shelton had three hits and an RBI while Biggs had two doubles and four RBI. Keidron Duckwitz had two hits.

Altamont improves to 12-5 on the season.

In the second contest Saturday, Stew-Stras beat Okaw Valley 6-2. Okaw Valley held a 2-0 lead until the fourth when Stew-Stras tallied a single run. Stew-Stras then scored five in the fifth to pull out the win.

B. Schlechte and Ballinger had two singles each for the winners.

Stew-Stras and Altamont will meet at 4:30 p.m. today for the championship. The pair met earlier in a game that determined the National Trail Conference championship with Altamont winning 6-5 in eight innings.

Class A St. Anthony Regional

Cumberland and Casey-Westfield will meet for the championship of the Class A St. Anthony Regional today at 4 p.m.

Cumberland blanked Paris Crestwood 5-0 Saturday while Casey-Westfield was a 9-4 winner over Oblong.
