EHS Drops Non-Conference Softball Game

MOUNT VERNON -- Mount Vernon edged out to a 1-0 lead on Effingham but the Hearts came back with two runs in the second and led 3-1 in the top of the third.

The Rams tallied four in the bottom of the third. The Hearts pulled within 5-4 in the top of the fourth but Mount Vernon tallied a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. The Hearts came back with a run in the seventh but fell short.

Hope Collier had the lone extra base hit for the Hearts with a double. Kaylee Tonn, Jenna Wright, Aly Armstrong and Ashlyn Hanks had two singles each. Armstrong had three RBI while Tonn and Wright had one RBI each.

EHS drops to 17-11 on the season.
