Lincoln Land College Wins District P Softball Playoffs

Lincolnd Land Community College won two games Thursday against East Central College to win the District P Playoffs.

Due to heavy rain, both games were played Thursday at Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin's all turf field. The Loggers will now advance to the NJCAA Division II Nationals starting Wednesday, May 13 in Clinton, Mississippi. This makes the third straight year for the Loggers at Nationals.

Hayley Long and Sadie Mosher shut down the East Central College Falcons bats to win 8-0 and 7-2. Long (19-4) allowed no runs on one hit and nine strikeouts in the five inning run ruled game. Mosher (14-5), went seven innings in game two, allowing two runs on four hits and 12 strikeouts.

LLCC hit five home runs to power past ECC. Courtney Reeves hit two home runs in game one along with Mosher's homer to way beyond left field. Rachel Wisner hit back-to-back home runs in game two. Courtney Reeves was 4-for-7 for both games. Rachel Hastings was 2-for-4, triple and two RBIs. Leftfielder Miranda Esperum was 3-for-3 in game two.

Area players for the Loggers are Lauren and Madison Ohnesorge from Altamont and Lindsay Floyd from Windsor.
