Altamont Downs Dieterich, TTown Falls To Robinson, Area Softball Roundup

DIETERICH -- Altamont came calling and claimed a 15-4 win over Dieterich in girls softball competition Thursday.

The Indians held a 2-0 first inning lead then had a seven-run second, a one-run third and ended the contest in the fifth via the 10-run rule with five runs.

Wharton had the lone extra base hit for Altamont with a double and an RBI. Biggs, Winters, Higgs and M. Phillips had two singles each. M. Phillips had two RBI while Biggs, Winters and Higgs had an RBI each.

Biggs pitched the win, allowing eight hits, two walks and striking out five. The Indians are now 5-2 in the National Trail Conference, 10-11 overall.

Dieterich was led by Vahling with a single, home run and two RBI and Deain with a triple and an RBI.

At Teutopolis

Robinson edged out to a 3-0 first inning lead but Teutopolis came back with three runs in the third to knot the score. The Maroons moved ahead again with a run in the fourth and tallied a run in the fifth and one in the seventh. 

T-town came back with two in the bottom of the seventh but fell short, 6-5. The Shoes were led by Anni Borries who hit for the cycle with a single, double, triple and home run. She finished with five RBI. Repking added three singles.

The Shoes drop to 22-2 on the season and host Newton today. T-town won the junior varsity game, 4-3.

At Marshall

St. Elmo/Brownstown ran into a buzzsaw Thursday as Marshall took a 17-1 win in five innings.

Marshall held a 5-1 first inning lead and never looked back. Marshall had eight hits while SEB had two.

"We ran into a buzzsaw pitcher tonight," said SEB Coach Tom Fedrigon. "My hat is off to their pitcher. She gave up two hits and a hit a batter and that was all the baserunnres we could manage. She did not walk anyone and struck out eight over five innings."

Stephanie Calhoun got the lone RBI for SEB with a single, scoring Kyrstyn Fitch. Morgan Brown had the other hit, a single.

At Marshall

South Central took a 2-0 first inning lead but Salem came back with a run in the second and two in the fifth for a 3-2 win.

South Central had nine hits in the contest led by Serina Lee and Bailey Ritter with two singles each. Abby King added a home run and two RBI in the first inning to get the Cougars started.

South Central drops to 9-13 on the season.

Charleston claimed an 8-6 win over Newton. The Trojans held a 7-6 lead going into the seventh then tallied a final run.

The Trojans improve to 19-9 on the season.
