Bulldogs Trounce Maroons, Area Softball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony took a 14-0 win over Dieterich in five innings via the 10-run rule in softball competition Monday.
The Bulldogs edged out with a 2-0 lead in the first inning then led 4-0 after three and had a 10-run fourth to end the contest.
Jenna Woltman, a sophomore, pitched a no-hitter with three walks and four strikeouts. Woltman also helped in the hitting department with a single, double and two RBI. Maddie Schuette added a double and an RBI while Morgan Gardewine had two singles and two RBI.

At Neoga
Neoga trailed Altamont 10-7 going into the bottom of the sixth inning then broke loose with six runs and pulled out a 13-10 National Trail Conference victory.
Neoga led 1-0 after one inning. Altamont tied in the top of the second and took a 5-4 lead after three. Neoga came back to lead 7-6 after four. Altamont tallied three in the fifth to lead 9-7 then pushed ahead 10-7 in the top of the sixth.
C. Blazich had a single, home run and drove in two runs for Neoga while Effner had a single, double and an RBI. Lee added a double and two RBI. Neoga is 5-13.
Altamont was led by Phillips with a home run and an RBI, Laffoon with a home run and two RBI, Goeckner with two singles, two doubles and five RBI and Duckwitz with two singles and an RBI. Altamont drops to 3-1 in the conference, 5-8 overall.

Teutopolis banged out 13 hits while Kadi Borries held Charleston to four hits while striking out five for a 12-2 win.
The Wooden Shoes scored three runs in each of the first three innings then ended the game with three in the bottom of the sixth.
T-town had 13 hits in the contest led by Anni Borries with four hits and four RBI and K. Borries with three hits and two RBI.
T-town improves to 13-0 on the season. The Wooden Shoes also won the junior varsity game 15-9.

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor picked up a National Trail Conference win over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 11-1 in five innings.
Stew-Stras/Windsor stepped out to a 7-1 opening inning lead and never looked back. The winners banged out 15 hits in the contest including Kendall Knop's two home runs and five RBI. Knop also picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter .
Bayleigh Tabor added three singles and a triple for the winners while Madison Quast had a single, double and two RBI. The Hatchets improve to 4-2 in the conference, 8-11 overall.
SEB was led by Darby Moss with two singles. The Eagles drop to 3-3 in the conference, 6-16 overall.

Odin/Sandoval came calling and claimed an 11-6 win over South Central Monday evening.
Odin/Sandoval took a 4-1 second inning lead. South Central pulled within 7-6 in the sixth but Odin/Sandoval had a four-run seventh.
Bailey Ritter led the Cougars with a single, double and two RBI and Abby King with a single and triple. South Central drops to 5-8 on the season.

Olney edged Newton 2-1. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the third then tacked on a second run in the fifth. Newton didn't score until the bottom of the seventh.
Both teams had six hits. Royse led Olney with two singles. Richards led Newton with two singles.

Cumberland kept its record perfect in the Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division with a 4-1 victory over Oblong.
The Pirates had a three-run fifth and pulled out a 4-1 win over Oblong. The Pirates are now 5-0 in the conference, 17-4 overall.
Kaylee Carlen was the winning pitcher on a three-hitter with four walks and seven strikeouts. She now has a 12-2 record.
