Bulldogs Pick Up NTC Win over SEB, Area Softball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony played host to St. Elmo/Brownstown and handed the Eagles a 15-5 defeat in five innings via the 10-run rule Monday.
St. Anthony held a 3-0 first inning lead. SEB came back with a five-run top of the second to lead 5-3 but the Bulldogs tallied six in the bottom of the frame and went on to end the contest in the fifth.
The Bulldogs had 16 hits in led by Hunter Niebrugge with a single, triple, home run and five RBI, Jenna Woltman with three singles, a triple and four RBI and Megan Nuxoll a single, triple and three RBI. Paige Koester and Marci Mills added two singles each. Mills had an RBI.
St. Elmo/Brownstown had four hits, all singles by four different players.

At Beecher City
Neoga trailed Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 1-0 after the first inning but came back with two in the second and claimed a 6-1 National Trail Conference win.
The Indians banged out 14 hits in the contest led by Roderick with two singles, two doubles and an RBI, Atwell with three singles and an RBI, Effner with a single and double and Taylor with two singles.
Amanda Pierce had two singles for the Hornets, who drop to 0-4 in the NTC, 1-7 overall.

Altamont edged Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor 10-9 in National Trail Conference play.
SSW held a 4-2 lead until the top of the fourth when Altamont scored three runs. SSW then came back with two to regain the lead in the bottom of the fourth 6-5. Altamont then tallied three in the fifth to lead 8-5. SSW came back with two in the sixth and one in the seventh only to fall short.
Stone had a single, double and drove in three runs for Altamont. Biggs had two singles and a double. Goeckner added two doubles while S. Phillips had a triple and an RBI.
SSW was led by Knop with three singles and Tabor with a single and double.
Altamont remains unbeaten in the conference at 3-0 and is 4-3 overall.
