Cumberland Splits With Mattoon In Softball

MATTOON -- Cumberland and Mattoon split a softball doubleheader Saturday.

Cumberland won the opener 6-5 by scoring four runs in the top of the seventh after trailing 5-2.

The Pirates had 11 hits in the game and Carlen picked up the pitching win. Casey had a single, home run and two  RBI while Jackson had a single and double.

In the second game, Mattoon came back with an 8-3 victory. The Green Wave held a 6-2 lead in the fifth then tacked on two more in the seventh.

Cumberland is now 8-2 on the season.
