Jasper County picked up a 10-5 victory over Effingham in junior high softball competition Tuesday.

Effingham held a 3-1 lead in the top of the second but Jasper County tied the score in the bottom of the inning then tallied three in the fourth and never looked back.

Effingham outhit Jasper County 9-6 but had a whopping 11 errors. Kiyah Kuhlman had a single and double while Chloe Funneman had a single, triple and an RBI for the Mustangs.

At St. Elmo

St. Anthony handed host St. Elmo/Brownstown a 13-4 loss. The score was tied at 3-3 until the fourth when the Bullpups tallied a run then had a seven-run fifth.

Grace Hakman had a single and double for the winners while Katie Kabbes had two singles and two RBI, Alli Day two singles, a triple and an RBI and Shea Kinkelaar a single, double and an RBI.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Oberlink with two singles and a triple and Maxey with a single, triple and an RBI. SEB drops to 3-10.

Centralia came calling and claimed a 9-2 win over South Central. The visitors stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead.

South Central had seven hits in the contest led by Kaite Shumate with a double and an RBI and Deidre  Hall with two singles.
