Effingham handed Beecher City a 12-2 loss in six innings in junior high school softball action Tuesday.
Neither team scored in the first two innings but Effingham edged out to a 1-0 lead in the third. Beecher City regained the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth but the Mustangs came back with an eight-run bottom of the fourth and pulled away.
Effingham had 15 hits in the contest while Beecher City had one hit.

At St. Anthony
St. Anthony edged Mulberry Grove 1-0 in action at Bulldog Field Monday.
Jenna Woltman picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with three walks and 15 strikeouts. St. Anthony was led by Kelly Rentfrow with two singles. Rentfrow produced the game-winning hit for an RBI.

At Altamont
Jasper County picked up the victory in the Altamont Opening Day Softball Tournament Saturday. Jasper County won by going 3-0 in the round robin meet followed by Altamont 2-1, St. Anthony 1-2 and Sullivan 0-3.
Altamont scores include Jasper County winning 13-5, Altamont edging St. Anthony 7-6 and Altamont beating Sullivan 9-6.

Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Windsor 15-0 in five innings. Stew-Stras stepped out to an 8-0 first inning lead and never looked back.
Stew-Stras had five hits including a two-run homer by Becca Schlechte, Megan Schlechte had two singles and picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts. Stew-Stras improves to 5-0 and is back in action Thursday against Okaw Valley.
