Area Players, Coaches Named To ICA All-State Softball Teams

Several area players and coaches were named to the Illinois Coaches Association All-State Softball Teams.

In Class 1A, state champion Altamont had five players named to the all-state teams. Deidre Ledbetter and Lauren White, the pitching and catching duo, were named to the First Team. Lauren Ohnesorge and Madison Ohnesorge were Second Team choices along with Cumberland's Kaylee Carlen.

Named to the Third Team were Altamont's Josie Phillips, Stewardson-Strasburg's Kendall Knop and Cumberland's Kyla Thornton.

Drawing First Team honors in Class 2A was Teutopolis High School's Kadi Borries. The Wooden Shoes also had two Second Team honorees in Annie Borries and Alison Apke.

Named to the Third Team in Class 2A was Effingham St. Anthony's Hunter Niebrugge.

Class 3A Third Team members were Charleston's Katherine Kennedy, Mattoon's Kaitlyn Bath and Riley Phipps, Centralia's Sammy Cameron and Mount Zion's Morgan Mansur, Alli Davis and Sarah Wilkerson.

Two area coaches garnered Coach of the Year honors. In Class 1A, Altamont's John Niebrugge was named while in Class 2A, Teutopolis' Rich Niebrugge grabbed the honors.
