Mulberry Grove Wins, SEB Second at EIC Tourney

Mulberry Grove captured the championship of the Egyptian-Illini Conference Softball Tournament Saturday.

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick handed Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran a 15-5 loss in the opener. BCCH ended the game in the fifth via the 10-run rule.

BCCH had 13 hits in the contest led by Timber Gates with a single, double and three RBI, Amanda Pierce with a single, triple and two RBI, Billie Kollman with two doubles and an RBI, Kirby Herrmann with two singles and a double and Kacie Hilt with a single, home run and four RBI.

St. Elmo/Brownstown then defeated BCCH 12-2. D. Moss and D. Austin had two singles and two RBI each while Brown had a triple and two RBI, T. Austin two doubles and an RBI, Scholes a single, double and two RBI, Fitch and Pruett had two singles each and Oberlink two singles and an RBI for the winners.

Mulberry Grove downed Ramsey in the semifinals. Ramsey then took third place with a 7-2 win over BCCH. BCCH was led by Pierce and Heather Reed with two singles each and Herrmann with a single, double and two RBI.

Mulberry Grove stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead on St. Elmo/Brownstown in the championship game and never looked back, blanking the Eagles 9-0.

Fitch and Scholes led SEB with two singles each while Brown added a triple.
