T-town Captures First Place At Vandalia Tournament

VANDALIA -- Teutopolis High School captured the championship of the Vandalia Softball Tournament Saturday.
T-town won its opener over Carlyle 12-1. The Wooden Shoes held a 2-1 lead until the fourth when they tallied four more runs.
Anni Borries had a double, home run and three RBI for the winners. Danielle Repking added a single and double while Raegan Drees had three singles and Janelle Gebben added a double and drove in three runs.
Kadi Borries picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with one walk and seven strikeouts.
In the second contest, T-town beat Vandalia 15-3 in five innings via the 10-run rule. The Shoes held a 3-1 first inning lead then had a nine-run fourth to end the game.
A. Borries continued her hot hitting with two home runs and four RBI. Chelsey Hardiek had a single, double and an RBI while Allison Apke added three singles and two RBI.
The Shoes won while Vandalia finished second by beating Carlyle 4-3 in eight innings. T-town is now 23-3 and back in action Tuesday against Effingham.
