Walsh Pitches No-Hitter In Bulldog Win

Makayla Walsh pitched a no-hitter as Effingham St. Anthony High School blasted Dieterich 16-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule in softball action Wednesday.

The Bulldogs stepped out to a 5-0 first inning lead and never looked back in this one. St. Anthony banged out 10 hits in the contest and was aided by four Dieterich errors. Hunter Niebrugge led the Bulldogs' hitting attack with a double, triple and four RBI. Megan Nuxoll added a double, triple and two RBI while Morgan Gardewine contributed two singles and three RBI.

Walsh picked up the pitching win, allowing three walks and striking out six.

At Windsor

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor claimed a 19-4 victory over South Central in action Wednesday.

The Comets stepped out to an 11-1 first inning lead and went on to end the game in the fifth. Stew-Stras/Windsor had 14 hits in the contest led by Burton with a single, home run and four RBI, Ferris with two singles, a home run and five RBI and Tabor with a single and double. The winners improve to 14-3 on the season.

South Central was led by Sigrist with two singles and a double.

Cumberland had an 11-run fourth inning and ended this contest over Lawrenceville 13-1 in the fifth inning.

Kyla Thornton hit a home run and had three RBI for the winners. Jenna McMechan had a single, double and an RBI while Kaylee Carlen had a single, double and an RBI. Breanna Booker had two singles and two RBI.

The Pirates are now 9-7 on the season.
