Altamont, BCCH Claim Softball Wins, St. A Falls

CHARLESTON -- Altamont handed Charleston a 6-2 loss in softball competition Tuesday evening behind eight hits.
Lauren White had a two-run homer for the Indians while Nikki Tharp had a double and Josie Phillips a triple. Deidre Ledbetter added two singles and drove in a run. Lauren Ohnesorge had a single and two RBI.
Ledbetter picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with no walks and 10 strikeouts.
Charleston's Katherine Kenendy hit a home run and two RBI.

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick stepped out to a 6-0 first inning lead and went on for a 17-5 win over South Central in five innings via the 10-run rule.
BCCH had 17 hits in the game led by Felicia Johnson with two singles, a double and four RBI, Heather Reed with three singles and an RBI, Kacie Hilt with a single, home run and four RBI and Billie Kollman with a single, double and two RBI.
South Central had four hits, led by King with a triple and an RBI and Lotz with a triple and an RBI.

Effingham St. Anthony fell a run short against Sullivan in eight innings, 5-4.
The Bulldogs held a 4-1 lead after three innings and led 4-3 until the top of the seventh when Sullivan knotted the score. The Redskins then punched across the winning run in the eighth.
The Bulldogs were led by J. Woltman with two singles and M. Gardewine with three singles.

Ramsey edged Dieterich 10-9. Ramsey took a 7-2 lead in the third and then had to hold off a final inning challenge as the Maroons tallied three runs only to fall short.
Ramsey had 12 hits in the contest and was aided by seven Dieterich errors. Dieterich was led in hitting by Vahling with a double, home run and four RBI, Higgs with a single, double and an RBI and Bannick with a double and an RBI.
