Coldwell claims Girls Prep League Championship

Coldwell Banker took control Monday evening at Evergreen Hollow Park and came away with the championship of the Girls Prep Softball League Tournament.

The evening's opener saw Spectrum Screen Graphics down Remax 28-11 to advance to the title contest. Spectrum had a 17-run first inning and tallied 11 in the second. Marci Mills was the winning pitcher on a four-hitter.

In the second contest, Coldwell banged home six runs in the first three innings for an 18-11 win over Joe's Pizza. Coldwell had eight hits in the contest and winning pitcher, Kaylee Phillips threw a three-hitter.

In the championship contest, Coldwell took a quick 14-1 lead and went on for an 18-6 win over Spectrum behind three hits. Phillips was the winning pitcher on a two-hitter.

Awards were presented after the tournament. Most Valuable Player of the tournament went to Kaylee Phillips (Coldwell Banker). The overall Sportsmanship award went to Kalina Dunn (Spectrum). Other Sportsmanship awards went to Madison Buscher (Joe's Pizza), Kourtney Cordes (Remax) and Aleah Hamilton (Coldwell lBanker). The MVP awards during the season went to Kaitlyn Kinkelaar (Spectrum) Kailey Bridges (Joe's PIzza) and Marci Mills (Remax). Katie Kabbes (Coldwell Banker) won the overall MVP award.
