Bulldogs Edge Arthur-Lovington; Altamont Suffers Losses

Effingham St. Anthony edged Arthur-Lovington 1-0 in soccer competition Tuesday evening.

Donovan Hammer scored the lone goal of the game on an assist from Andreas Trevnik. The game MVP was James Kabbes. The Bulldogs are now 9-3-3 on the season.

In the junior varsity match, the two teams played to a 0-0 tie. Game MVPs for St. Anthony were Mason Thomas and AndySaba.

"We'd like to thank Matt LaFrance and Thomas Bingham, game referees, for letting the JV play under the lights," said St. Anthony Coach Scott Demers. "These players will remember this game for a long time."

St. Anthony will play host to Mattoon Thursday with Senior Night festivities at 4:30 p.m.

 

At Olney

Altamont fell in both junior varsity and varsity soccer matches at Olney Tuesday.

In the varsity contest, Olney was a 5-0 winner, scoring three goals in the first half and two in the second. Altamont had three shots. Adam Doty had 14 saves. Olney had 34 shots, 20 on goal. Altamont drops to 0-12-1.

In junior varsity play, Olney was a 3-0 winner, scoring two goals in the first half. Altamont drops to 2-3-1.
