LEBANON -- Effingham and host Lebanon played to a 1-1 tie in soccer competition Monday.

Spencer Phillips gave Lebanon a 1-0 lead with 17:01 in the first half. Effingham's Austin Wenthe came back with a score at 37:07 in the second half to give the Hearts a 1-1 tie. Wenthe was assisted by Jason Pike.

The Hearts had 12 shots, eight on goal.

"We played well but couldn't convert on numerous deep throw-ins and a multitude of corner kicks," said EHS Coach Aaron Witges. "We also were called for offisides 11 times."

Effingham is now 7-4-2 on the season.

In the junior varsity contest, Lebanon was a 2-0 winner. The Hearts drop to 3-4-2. EHS is back in action Thursday at Olney with a 5 p.m. start.
