St. Anthony, T-town Win Soccer Matches

Effingham St. Anthony blanked Altamont 2-0 in high school soccer competition Tuesday.
Jonas Armberg had a goal for the Bulldogs with 38:50 in the first half. Ryan Kruger then connected in the second half at 2:10 on an assist by Armberg.
"Our defense held the Indians despite some close shots near the end of the second half," said St. Anthony Coach Scott Demers. "Ashley Dietzen stepped up in the goalkeeper position and made some great saves despite it being only her second time in the position in high school. We coaches would like to thank Coach Walton for rmaking it possible to play a junior varsity match."
"The Indians will be a tough team with the freshmen and sophomroes they have on their team," said SAHS Coach Eric Morales.
St. Anthony had 37 shots, 26 on goal while Altamont had seven shots, four on goal. St. Anthony's Dietzen had four saves and Altamont's Adam Doty had 21 saves.
St. Anthony game MVPs were James Kabbes, Chandler Martelli, Ryan Kruger and Dietzen. The Bulldogs improve to 6-3-3 while Altamont drops to 0-10-1.
At Teutopolis
Teutopolis defeated Charleston 2-1. Kyle Blievernicht tallied the first goal with an assist by Drew Kowalski.
The second goal came from Justin Deters. T-town lost in junior varsity play 1-0.
In junior varsity action, Altamont won 2-1. St. Anthony's goal came from Donovan Hammer. Altamont's goals came from Christian Freezeland in the first half and Jakob Beckley in the second half. Altamont is now 2-2-1.
