EHS Edges Teutopolis 2-1 in Soccer Action

TEUTOPOLIS -- Effingham High School edged Teutopolis 2-1 in soccer competition Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes opened the scoring as Kyle Blievernicht tallied a goal with 32:42 left in the second half after a scoreless first half. Effingham's Tyler Katz then connected for an unassisted goal with 6:06 left to tie the score.

Katz then got the winning goal on a free kick with 48.1 seconds left as the Hearts pulled out the victory. EHS had 18 shots, 10 on goal. Effingham's Frank Kasdorf finished with seven saves while T-town's Seth Belford had eight saves.

The Hearts improve to 5-4-1 on the seaon.

In the junior varsity match, Effingham edged T-town 1-0. Effingham's lone goal came from Synne Christiansen.
