Shoes Advance To Soccer Regional Championship

ALTAMONT -- Teutopolis High School blanked Effingham St. Anthony 6-0 to advance to the championship match of the Class 1A Altamont Soccer Regional after play Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes' Landyn Buening scored two goals, one unassisted and one assisted by Tyler Petersen. Joey Probst scored, assisted by Petersen. Gavin Buening scored, assisted by Simon Lee and Cooper Tegeler scored. St. Anthony own goal.

In the second match Staunton won over Altamont by a 1-0 tally.

The Shoes are now 14-3-2 on the season and will meet Staunton at 4 p.m. Tuesday for the regional championship and the right to advance to the Virden North Mac Sectional.

 

Class 1A Hillsboro Regional

Newton saw its season come to an end with a 3-2 loss to Greenville Saturday.

In the opening match, Hillsboro won over Pana Co-op, 5-0.

Greenville and Hillsboro will meet for the regional championship Tuesday at 5 p.m.

 

Class 2A Olney Richland County  Regional

Salem handed Olney Richland County a 3-1 loss in opening play of this regional Friday.

Salem advances to a meeting with Troy Triad at 4 p.m .Tuesday.

Effingham will take on Mascoutah at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The winners advance to the regional championship Saturday at 10 a.m.
