EHS Blanks T'ville, T-town Falls To Fisher In Soccer

Effingham High School continued to rack up victims in soccer competition.

The Hearts blanked Taylorville by a 9-0 count Saturday.

"We had strong performances by several team members with new people getting on the score sheet," said EHS Coach Logan Arney. "All of our goals had an assist showing the excellent team work to score our goals."

Maicol Sefton led the way with four goals and one assist while Rece Kinney had two goals and one assist. Dani Angel had a goal and an assist, Gabe Koester one PK goal and Connor Delong one goal.

Sebastian Simoni led the way in assists with three. Sam Spicer and Scott Robinson had an assist each and Peter Rosen had two saves.

"This was our 10th clean sheet of the year which is expected to be our all-time record for a season," said Coach Arney."This upcoming Tuesday is our final regular season game aganist tough Apollo Conference team Mahomet-Seymour. Come out and support the team as we wrap up our historic season. The junior varsity will play at 5 p.m followed by the varsity."

 

At Fisher

Teutopolis had a rough night in its final regular season matches at Fisher Friday.

The varsity fell to Fisher/Gibson City/Melvin/Sibley 2-0 to end the regular season with a 13-3-2 record.

In the junior varsity match, FGCMS was a 3-1 winner. The Wooden Shoes' Gavin Pals scored their lone goal of the night.

"We are very proud of the growth and improvement from our junior varsity squad this season," said Coach Aaron Wendt.

The varsity Shoes open up their post-season Saturday with a 10 a.m. contest at Altamont against the winner of the St. Anthony vs. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond match.
