Effingham defeated Apollo Conference opponent Mattoon by a 4-1 count Tuesday, extending its record to 13-0 on the season.

"We are officially the last remaining team in all of Illinois that has won every game we've played," said EHS Coach Logan Arney. "I'm proud of our accomplishments so far this season. We have two more weeks of the season with eight more games to go.

"This is when our character, consistency and toughness shows. Tomorrow we play against a difficult opponent in Hillsboro at home with the varsity match starting at 4 p.m. Come support us as we look to tie the all-time win record of 14, which we set last year."

Sebastian Simoni had two goals and one assist while Connor Delong had one goal and two assists. Gage Kinder scored a goal. Maicol Sefton had one assist and Peter Rosen one save.

"Our junior varsity played a great game but couldn't quite find the back of the net as they ended in a scoreless draw of 0-0," said Coach Arney. "Brady Wilson had a strong game in goal ending with five saves."

At Newton

Teutopolis handed Newton a 2-1 loss in Tuesday action.

Wooden Shoes' goals were scored by Landyn Buening, assisted by Isaac McWhorter, and Joey Probst, assisted by Cooper Tegeler.

"Goalkeeper Noah Thompson played well and added another 15 saves to his tally," said T-town Coach Aaron Wendt. "The Eagles' lone goal was scored on a PK for a hand ball in the box. Thompson made a good effort and was just short of the save."

The Shoes move to 11-2-1 on the season.

Both the junior varsity and varsity teams will host Breese Mater Dei Saturday with the varsity match at 10 a.m. and the junior varsity to follow.
