Hearts Blank Shoes 2-0 In Soccer Action

Effingham High School's winning streak continued as the Hearts blanked Teutopolis, 2-0 in soccer action Monday.

Maicol Sefton and Andrew Wagoner each scored a goal for EHS. Sebastian Simoni had one assist and goalkeeper Peter Rosen had two saves.

"This extends our record to 11-0," said EHS Coach Logan Arney. "It was a hard-fought and fun game as these games often go. I love the Effingham and Teutopolis games as it brings out competition and often the best in both sides. I was happy with how our team played and worked together, as shown by another clean sheet, our seventh of the season."

"We were on target tonight with six shots total and five on goal, just couldn't get any to fall," said T-town Coach Aaron Wendt. "Goalkeeper Noah Thompson had a good match despite the two goals scored, ending the game with 11 saves."

The Wooden Shoes drop to 10-2 on the season.

T-town claimed the junior varsity match by a 2-0 count. Goals were scored by Tommy Habing and Tucker Dhom. The Wooden Shoes' JV is now 3-4-2.

"Our JV team lost a tough one tonight," said Coach Arney. "Our team played well but T-town capitalized on their opportunities and got two goals. Brady Wilson had three saves."

The Hearts are right back in action today with an Apollo Conference matchup against Mahomet-Seymour.

Teutopolis returns to play Thursday against Centralia with a 4:30 p.m .varsity start and the junior varsity to follow.
