EHS, T-town Win In Soccer, St. A Falls

TAYLORVILLE -- Effingham High School blanked Taylorville 9-0 Saturday to remain unbeaten at 10-0 on the soccer season.

"It was a great team win that continues our historic season," said EHS Coach Logan Arney. "This was our sixth clean sheet in 10 games."

Maicol Sefton scored a whopping four goals with one assist. Gage Kinder added two goals and one assist. Sebastian Simoni had one goal and two assists while Adnrew Wagoner had one goal and one assist. Camilo Aden finished with one goal. Peter Rosen added two saves."

Three will be plenty of opportunities to come support the Hearts this week. EHS will play host to Teutopolis today before heading to Mahomet-Seymour Tuesday. EHS will then host Mount Vernon Thursday and host Robinson Saturday.

"Continue to support the Hearts and come out to cheer us on as we take on our cross county matchup today," said Coach Arney.

 

At Carlyle

The Wooden Shoes of Teutopolis headed to Carlyle Saturday and came home with wins in both varsity and junior varsity action.

The varsity squad handed Carlyle a 3-1 loss. Goals were scored by Joey Probst, assisted by Josh Thompson, Landyn Buening and Tucker Dhom, assisted by Gavin Buening. The Wooden Shoes are now 10-1 on the season.

The junior varsity team was a 2-0 winner over Carlyle. Goals were scored by T-town's Payne Davidson assisted by Evan Probst and then Probst. The junior varsity squad is now 2-4-2.

"During the game today, Carlyle's goalkeeper had his 1,000th career save," said Coach Aaron Wendt. "That is awesome, congrats to him."

Both T-town squads are back in action today at Effingham in a 4:30 p.m. match.

 

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony played host to Richland County, Olney and fell in a close 2-1 contest Saturday.

Richland County scored first in the opening half. St. Anthony's Maddox Wiedman, a senior, tied the game in the second half after receiving a corner kick from Harrion Miller, also a senior.

Richland County then scored the second and winning goal with 10 minutes left in the second half.
