EHS Beats St. Anthony, T-town Wins In Soccer

Effingham High School played host to Effingham St. Anthony and blanked the Bulldogs, 9-0 in a game that ended at halftime due to the score difference Tuesday.

Andrew Wagoner had a hat trick for the Hearts with three goals. Maicol Sefton finished with two goals and one assist. Sebastian Simoni scored two goals. Cailo Aden had one goal and an assist while Sam Spicer also had one goal from a corner kick. Connor Delong finished with three assists.

The Hearts improved to 3-0 on the season.

"I'm very happy to see the team continue to come together and show the exciting potential that we have with our goal potential and defense with our second clean sheet in three games," said EHS Coach Logan Arney.

"This was a team win with some exciting highlights from several of our players. Andrew Wagoner scored a hat trick. Sam Spicer scored an Olimpico goal directly from a corner kick. Connor Delong had three assists and many other player performances I could call out."

 

At Charleston

Teutopolis had a great night in Charleston, taking a 6-1 victory in varsity action and blanking the Trojans by a 6-0 count in the junior varsity contest.

Varsity goals were scored by sophomore Simon Lee with a hat trick of three goals, one assisted by Tyler Petersen and one assisted by Joey Probst. Cooper Tegeler, assisted by Isaac McWhorter scored a goal while Gavin Buening also tallied  goal on an assist by Tyler Petersen. Joey Probst also finished with a goal for the Shoes.

The varsity squad moved to 3-0 on the season.

In junior varsity action, freshman Tommy Habing finished with three goals for a hat trick. Evan Probst, Tucker Dhom and Rylan Donsbach all had goals, assisted by Tommy Habing.

The junior varsity is now 1-3 on the season.

Both squads are back in action in the home opener against Mount Vernon Saturday. It's an 11 a.m. varsity start with the junior varsity match to follow.
