Wooden Shoes Claim Two Victories At Soccer Tourney

CHARLESTON -- Teutopolis High School opened the season during the weekend with two victories at the Charleston Red & Gold Soccer Tournament.

The Wooden Shoes blanked Rantoul by a 3-0 count. Gavin Buening scored two goals, one assisted by Isaac McWhorter, and Cooper Tegeler scored a goal assisted by Tyler Petersen 

Goals in the Olney game were scored by Joey Probst, Landyn Buening, assisted by Gavin Buening, and another from Tegeler with a PK four for a foul in the box.

The junior varsity team played tough competition in Olney and came away 0-3 for the day.

In the first game, the Shoes fell to Marion 2-1. Tucker Dhom scored the lone Wooden Shoes goal.

In the second contest, Evansville North blanked the Shoes 6-0.

The third and final game of the day, T-town fell to Mount Vernon, 5-0.

The varsity Shoes are now 2-0 on the season and will be back in action on Charleston's pitch today with a 5 p.m. varsity start and the junior varsity playing after the varsity contest.
